Spring Tease

It’s the middle of winter – the heart, heart of these long, grey, Midwest months.

But, if you walked outside these last few days, the air is warm (yes, 39 degrees is warm), the snow is melting, there is no wind, and when you walk, it seems you have a little spring in your step as your body and mind are tricked into thinking, “Winter isn’t so bad, spring’s just around the corner.”

My mind was on this train of thought, when I then realized, it’s only the middle of January. There may be 2 or 3 full months of cold still to come! This is a spring tease, a taunt, a trick! We were buried in snow and cold a week ago.

Then I thought, well, I’ll take this Winter’s trick. A respite from the cold and blustery days is a sign that, even though this may not last, we are one day closer to spring.
