The City of Chicago Department of Children and Youth Services along with City partners After School Matters, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District and Libraries created a 3 year project to develop a comprehensive and sustainable Out-of-School Time (OST) system. This project included the development of organizational capacity and technical infrastructure that will help the Chicago partners provide Out-of-School Time activities to youth most in need of such services. This work included developing a Participant and Program Tracking System, a citywide communications effort to increase awareness on the need for OST activities, and the development of shared quality standards and tools for the partners to use in the development of quality programming for youth.
